Building Update 5.4.12 (May 4, 2012)

Here are a few areas God might be calling you to:
God and Man (May 1, 2012)
Sunday we talked about the second person of Trinity, Jesus Christ. It was an amazing Sunday and honestly how could it not be when we are discussing Jesus, God in the flesh. When it comes to understanding Him we should be truly amazed at the fact that He is both God and Man. I read this quote the other day that said it like this:
Equally amazing to the doctrine of the Trinity is the doctrine of the Incarnation–that Jesus Christ is God and man, yet one person, forever. As J.I. Packer has said: “Here are two mysteries for the price of one–the plurality of persons within the unity of God, and the union of Godhead and manhood in the person of Jesus. …Nothing in fiction is so fantastic as is this truth of the Incarnation,” writes contemporary theologian J.I. Packer.
The Incarnation is truly one of the most remarkable events ever in human history and yet a lot of times we don’t give it that much importance. The co-eternal person of Christ stepped down into human history and dwelt among us. That is REVOLUTIONARY. This truly sets Jesus apart from any other religious leader and why for thousands of years Christians have worshipped Him as God.
This is why our vision at Revolution is to LOVE JESUS first and foremost. If God the Father choose to exalt Jesus in this way and has given Him all authority then I think it is fitting He be our ultimate goal in the church. There are a lot of things that we measure here but the main thing we care about is that Jesus is supreme. The way we do ministry should always be changing with the culture but the one thing that must never change is Jesus as Lord.
I may have challenged some assumptions this last weekend but I hope you were able to see why we do things the way we do. Our goal is to GROW PEOPLE which is another way of saying make disciples. Ultimately, we are not after one time decisions but after people that are growing to be more like Jesus. And we have found this does not happen without a proper understanding of the Lordship of Jesus. As God and Man, He has God’s authority over man and we are to submit to Him. This does not mean that we will not struggle with sin but it does mean we will submit to Him when we do.
For further study about Jesus as God and Man here is a great article: Jesus, God and Man.
